Happy Mental Health Awareness Month...

Can you believe that statistic?  Honestly, I can.  However, there are times you wouldn't know who around you is going through something because there is such a stigma surrounding mental health.

Have you ever heard:

  • "It's all in your head."
  • "Keep calm."
  • "Life's too short."
  • "Stay positive."
  • "It could be worse."
If you suffer from a mental health condition, I am almost 100% positive that you have heard at least one of these statements at one time or another.  If you don't, but know someone who does, I am pretty sure you've said one of these things at some point.  This is why people don't like to talk about it.  They don't feel as if the way they are feeling is real, that it isn't valid.  They feel that they will not get proper support when it is needed.  This will only send them into a downward spiral and create more problems.

So please, take this opportunity to learn more about a loved ones condition.  Be their person.  Be their rock.  Make sure to allow them to vent, to cry, to scream. To be honest, sometimes just having someone there with you is enough.

  1. Each year millions of people around the world face the reality of living with a mental illness. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the mental health of people of all ages. Now, more than ever, it is critical to reduce the stigma around mental health struggles, because that stigma often prevents individuals from seeking help. May is celebrated as Mental Health Awareness Month around the world and we at Tava Mitram also prioritizes spreading the awareness of Mental Health and mental wellbeing through diffirent initiatives and activities.
